It might be interesting if Lotus Notes messenging client could be used along with
iSight for professional video conferencing rather than just IM's
Even more so if those IM's could be encrypted to PGP standards.

Once you have the file on your drive use the G4 optimized Mplayer I created this (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1129727&highlight=) thread to share. Be sure to set the Mplayer preferences the way I show there for best results.
I just tried the G4 optimized MPlayer, it works great. Thanks.

pressuring Apple to reduce the number of devices (http://www.ft.com/cms/s/6c6aa286-7f08-11db-b193-0000779e2340.html) movie content from iTunes would be able to play on (namely, iPods).
I still don't understand what the issue is here. I can buy a DVD for almost the same amount and play it on as many devices as I want. The DVD has much better quality than the Apple downloads and has extra bonus features as well.
If I want to get a movie for viewing right away I can always "rent" it for about $4US from my digital cable provider and watch it in my home theatre. Many of them are now even in HD quality.
Oh, and part of the reason movies are now costing so much is for the exhorbitant salaries that certain actors get paid. If you want to cut costs on movie production, there's a good place to start. It's sad that we live in a society where actors, pop/rap stars, sports stars, etc. get paid mega bucks while professions like "school teacher" get paid peanuts.

The question asked of heterosexuals =/= asked gay and bisexual men. The risk factor for straight people is risky sex, the risk factor asked for gay men is not risky sex, but sex at all - even once. Its not the same thing. If there was no bigotry behind the question it would be raised this way to all, no matter what orientation "have you had unprotected sex with more than one partner in the last 5 years, if yes have you been tested for HIV?"

You don't pay for updates, Tweetie 1 had 7 free updates. Updates within the 2.0 version number will also be free. Same as EVERY piece of software for the desktop.
Tell me.. what will happen when Tweetie 3, 4, 5... comes out?
PAY AGAIN... AGAIN AND AGAIN... for minor upgrades.

So Samsung believed Apple was violating it's patents all this time but decided to do nothing about it. Now that they have been pushed they decide to act. Sounds to me they are trying to find whatever they can to bite back at Apple.

Crystal Film for Powerbook screens...it's supposed to make the screen appear brighter and clearer (not sure how that works, but whatever), and I was wondering if anyone has used it/tried it. It's intriguing to me, but I don't want to waste $35 on a gimmick.
Edit:
:Sigh: after 3 years here, I still forget to search. I did like 5 google searches for reviews. :o

it crashes regularly, even on macrumors or on the apple site!
just make it work!
If macrumors or the apple site is crashing safari (my safari hasn't crashed in years) you have something severely wrong with your system. Time for a checkup buddy.

People have already been commenting on future generations/revisions of the shuffle.
I agree with the predictions about the next revision being 2GB at the same price point. I would say that the form factor will stay the same, but maybe a stronger clip.
After that, who knows. I can also see a future shuffle having a miniature printed OLED display on it, perhaps in the middle of the play/pause button that could somehow relay which playlist you're using and a few other details.
By the end of '08, we could easily be seeing 16 and 24 GB nanos and 120/160 GB video iPods. I'm not going to make any predictions as to form factor, but I think the current aluminum tube design of the shuffle and nano will stay around for a while.

My takeaway is this:
Section 222 (http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/uscode47/usc_sec_47_00000222----000-.html)of the Communications Act deals with carriers keeping user information private, including location, but of course that has nothing to do with phone OS makers such as Apple and Google.
Now I suspect that Congress will want to bring non-carriers under their wing as well.
Smartphones used to be a pretty sleepy backwater area, where the press rarely bothered much. Now they're daily headline news, under extra scrutiny.

For those who cannot give blood, I understand that feeling as I'm in that group with 2 cases of cancer. Before I was diagnosed I did give a few (too few) times and wish I had given more.
For those who can give blood, I've seen the huge need. My wife had acute leukemia (ALL) and over 18 months of chemo was in desperate need of blood 10 times. Fortunately the blood & platelets were available when needed.
After that experience I felt I should have given more, but have no hesitation asking you to give a few units.
Sorry to hear about your wife's diagnosis - is she in remission?
It is good to read real stories mentioning the need for blood.

I don't make a living with Photoshop, but it is a pretty serious side activity of mine, and as I said before, for what it is, Photogene is perfectly adequate for the general iPad user.
Unless they can add color profiles, different colorspaces other than RGB (LAB, CMYK, et al.), Photoshop for professional use will never get off the ground on a device like this.
Not to say you should be able to do a complete workflow from import to print on a tablet device, which, at least for now, seems completely unrealistic -- but I would think pros need to be able to import, see colors in a reasonable approximation for proofing or showing to clients, and maybe make spot edits based on client feedback.
I honestly wasn't too thrilled with Photoshop Express, which is why when I saw Photogene, I was immediately impressed with is features.
