You can install Snow Leopard client from a USB stick. You can google for instructions on how to prepare a USB stick.
A clean install of Snow Leopard would be ideal unless you're moving from an old Mac and would rather not setup and configure everything again.

i can't find how i make a pic my profile picture ANYWHERE, ive tried creating albums and looked everywhere i can think of. If i'm completely blind and missing something, sorry but any help would be great!

I think buying an Imac will be one of the best purchases you could ever make. Certainly one that will never forget, once you go mac you will never go back.

I believe your macbook uses ddr2 memory,whereas the newer MBP's use DDR3. There is difference in voltage requirements for those two standards. You can install it in the macbook, it just won't boot, but you won't damage anything.

This page (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1270#link5) says the Late 2008 15" MBP uses DDR3 memory. I will check for sure when I get home today by looking at "About this Mac." As I said in the original post, I am doing this because I am upgrading the RAM in the new MBP as soon as it's delivered, and upgrading the RAM in the old MBP should get me more $$$ when I sell it. Thought the video was pretty terrific even if I hadn't known it was shot on an iPhone. I've seen people with camera gear costing 10 or more times as much that couldn't touch the work you did.

Thanks for the tip. apple's laptop are always such a pain to open up. Changing the hard drive on my toshiba only involved taking out 5 screws.:(
parts of pbfixit.com were good.. but that was the simple stuff.. the hardest part of the whole bit was doing this, and they essentially give you the wrong info. i should've taken pictures, but for anyone who is interested.. oh my 15" powerbook revision C, this holds true.
if you get to the part of having to remove this latch. get a nice dentist poker stick thingie and instead of prying at the case, simply push aside the optical slot protector/dust stoppers on the left side, right at the first little slit going vertically. insert the tip of the dentist thing into the area .. you can see the case and the latch if you look very carefully. put it in between them and gently pull forward while lifting on the top case gently. it comes off very very easily. this will essentially mean you touch ZERO of your case while taking this off. if you go in through the gap as pbfixit.com says, depending on the tool (metal or whatever) it will quickly turn nasty and you'll be ruining your case... if someone would like pictures, i can take them... it won't be real accurate, but i can point out the obvious parts. maybe i'll even put a guide together for it to help people..

Hi,
I've got a 2007 Aluminium iMac and I've noticed these last few weeks that it is spinning the beach ball a bit more than before and has to have a little think about things when I ask it to do something from time to time.
Time for a spring clean I think. :D
So, can anyone point a tech-savvy person towards some good articles or forum threads on how to get my Mac operating again as it should?
My machine was running Tiger when I bought it and was upgraded to Leopard then Snow Leopard. I've never done a reinstall and to be honest I was hoping I wouldn't have to. I'm 100% comfortable with messing with files, folders, plists and pretty much anything else on the Mac. If I'm honest I'm just looking for a cheat sheet for regaining performance on my machine without having to figure it out for myself... :o
