London's congestion charge was effective in reducing gridlock there.
For a short while, maybe a year or so, and the effect was pronounced, for those of us who use London buses. The mayor rolled it back from the central/western areas recently and long-term impact studies seem a little scarce in terms of car driver numbers. The carrot was also introducing cheaper bus and tube fares by means of the Oyster Card, a card with an RFID chip in it to speed passenger boarding with pre-paid tickets.
Using a bus in the UK, or London at least, doesn't quite have the same stigma it seems to have with some people in the US... although the distances involved are probably shorter than perhaps the average US commute.

It's always depressing to see someone else succeed at such an obvious idea. Maybe next time...
The idea is nothing. The kid obviously put time and effort into finding a decent supplier at a low price, marketing, web development. Hats off to him.

The iPad is not a tablet PC. You can still pay $2,000 for a tablet PC if you want. The iPad is a tablet yes, but it doesn't run a full blown deskptop OS (I'm not getting into that argument).
My point is, Apple used to offer excellent discounts to students and teachers across all of it's product ranges. It's a shame they're not offering the same with the iPad.
Who cares??? its a $500 device that can replace all computer needs of any student. Period.
I'm tired of hearing this backwater lack of imagination. Every student should have an iPad, and the great news is that most can afford one, even without "discounts".

I messed with it for about 5 minutes and it's nowhere near Soundtrack, IMO. Now I'm not an audio or video pro, but I like to do some tinkering. But as someone else stated, Adobe Audition is much more competition to Soundtrack is than SoundBooth.
Also, this doesn't necessarily need to be a UB. Heck, from what I saw it doesn't really even fill a need with the Intel Macs. Logic and Soundtrack seem to be much better options.

It's meant for an audience who doesn't care about the advanced features of Audition but would like to clean up audio or build simple beats. Also, I questioned the guy about the PPC thing. He said any existing programming that supports PPC will continue to be supported through at least one more release, since they already have the PPC code foundation. I've used the TW iPad app for a couple of weeks and it's not bad. These knucklehead content providers think they can charge you for every screen you watch their so called entertainment. I can only imagine that by the time all is said and done, the TW app will only have home shopping channels available. These content providers, whether they be music or tv keep trying to keep their old obsolete business model intact and seem to fight the advancement of technology. If they had their way, there would be a paid app for every tv channel!

This has been available for over 2 years on the Blackberry and it also downloads the maps. First off it must cache a lot or they are very small files because it starts plotting your direction almost instantly (couple of seconds). Also, I am on Verizon and when on a phone call we don't get data, however this continued to work flawlessly, as long as you already entered in your destination. This is one of the greatest uses of multitasking since it will run in the background and give you voice commands even if you are checking email or doing something else. This is also a great price, I had paid $80 for the blackberry version. It is worth it since it includes the latest maps (usually something you have to pay for), has the exact same functionality as the dedicated box, and is must cheaper. One negative is it drains your battery pretty good so make sure you have a car charger. But it has been great because I always have it with me.

I have been using the new four finger gestures enabled with 4.3.x and find them to be a great in combination with the current multitasking implementation. I think what is depicted is either a jail broken add-on, or an early tested and rejected interface.

Does nobody realise that you have to support the exFAT format (from Microsoft, currently NOT supported on OS X, and has to be licensed by Microsoft) to be able to use more than 32 GB? (or the up to 2 TB). Otherwise if you format it with the old formats you are stuck on the same limits as you would with ad SDHC card.
The way I see it, it's just the controller which supports SDXC, but the OS doesn't as of now. So nothing to really be happy about for the moment except that you have technology on board you can't take advantage on.
