The aftermath of a meteor impact visits havoc and horror on a young family.

In the wake of a large meteor collision, a ghastly epidemic is unleashed upon rural Colorado. Joslin, Grant and their two young children barricade themselves in their home in the quarantined city. Their fight for survival begins; battling airborne disease, lack of electricity and running water, starvation, brutal Colorado winter and worst of all, the morphs. The violent morphs, both victims and carriers of the disease, soon become more numerous and aggressive. Joslin and Grant risk all to protect their children.

PG Excerpt:

I sit awake in the solitude of my basement, next to the wavering light of our last candle.  The windows have been boarded tightly shut, blocking any trace of light.  The small fire is our only source of heat.  My children are asleep several feet away; it’s comforting knowing they’re safe, for now.  In the silence of the night it’s easy to reminisce about the life we lived, not-so-long ago.  Things changed so rapidly.  It feels like an eternity that we’ve been barricaded inside our house.

I close my eyes to welcome sleep, but visions of the past three months play in my head like a marathon of madness.  I open my eyes and glance down at the journal in my lap.  To me it means the world; it’s our story of survival.  The notebook’s open, and I stare down at the blank page.  The only writing is the heading at the top – Day 94.  My heart aches as I wonder how many more entries I’ll be able to make. I frown as I flip back to page one and reminisce about the day of impact.

August 2       Day 1
I decided to keep a journal of this epic event because nothing ever happens in Greeley.  I’m sure my grandkids will need this information for a high school history report some day, so here goes.  It’s been half a day since the meteor plummeted to earth and crashed into a cornfield fifteen miles east of our house.  I was at work taking out the mail as the rock tore through the sky; it looked like a huge ball of fire with a long, billowing smoky tail.  The sky was illuminated with hues of red, orange and yellow.  I know it was moving fast, but it took forever to arch across the sky.
The air temperature increased rapidly and almost took my breath away; it was like being in a sauna.  When it hit the ground there was a monstrous rumble.  I was awe-struck and unsure what to do at first, and there was a several second delay before massive tremors shook underfoot.  A wall of dust and dirt exploded into the air, and suddenly day became night.  Large gusts of wind blew the dirt towards town, and it was like watching an approaching wave.  Within a split-second the sky was completely black.  I ran inside and called the babysitter to let her know I was coming for the kids, and all businesses in the city closed immediately.
Roads were congested with people and cars; none obeying the law.  I had the windshield wipers on full speed to clear dirt off my windshield.   People were panicked and acting irrationally, myself included.  Cell phones didn’t work and chaos overtook the town; it was like Armageddon!

Blurb:
Tessa, very let down by love, is surprised to find herself comforted by the red-suited man himself on Christmas Eve. Thinking that he is the figment of her slightly tipsy mind, she pours her heart out to him, hoping for just a little love and understanding.

But Tessa gets more than she bargained for, and an elf named Jedrick gets the Christmas present of a lifetime. In only a short time, both find themselves realizing their love is for more than just the holiday season.

Their very humorous love-story is told amidst the backdrop of a post Christmas North Pole and the winter in Reno.

By reading this excerpt you are stating that you are at least 18 years of age or older.

Excerpt:
But the man who lay beside her was nothing like the one in Reno. He was downright gorgeous. His amber hair hanging in lush waves to almost his shoulders made her want to run her fingers through it. His long limbs held just a touch of muscle and bulged in all the right places. A five o'clock shadow gave him that scruffy look she loved so much on a face with deep-set eyes and smooth lines. She tried to imagine what his eyes looked like when something caught her attention...his ears.

Oh, my God, Tessa thought, he has pointy ears. Leaning over him, she ever so lightly ran her fingertips over the cartilage protrusions. They felt soft and warm to the touch. She could really get into this. She jerked her hand back immediately when he began to stir. Waiting for a few moments, she reached out again to touch the luscious lobes when a hand caught her wrist.

"Do you know what that does to a man? A full grown elf-man?" the deep voice said sleepily.

"Ummm...I can't say that I do," Tessa said, pulling her hand back to her chest. She wanted to reach out and touch him...touch the skin that seemed so warm and inviting...and anywhere else her hands might wander. This guy, pointy ears and all, really turned her on.

He leaned up on his elbows and shook his head as if to clear the cobwebs from his sleep-laden mind. "Should I explain exactly what happens when you touch an elf's ears like that?"

All her nerve endings tingled with unrestrained desire when he said those words. She smiled and wondered just how far this would go before he realized she knew he wasn't a real elf. After all, there weren't any real elves. "Your eyes are beautiful. They are so blue...azure blue like an island lagoon...yes, by all means, please explain."

He arched his eyebrow at her. "All right, remember you asked for it." Putting his arms behind his head, he stretched out his body and kicked off all the covers. "Why don't you stroke one of my ears and watch my body's reaction? Then I'll explain it if you don't fully understand."

Intrigued, she lifted her hand to stroke the point closest to her. Slowly, she trailed her fingers down the warm lobe and tweaked on the bottom of his ear. She touched the point again and let her gaze roam his wonderful body, stopping to stare at the bulge in his crotch lifting a pair of faded sweat pants. The guy was right...his body responded slowly...and she wanted to get a look at what was growing under the material. She could feel more than see that he was capable of filling her body completely. With every stroke to his ear, his cock continued to grow and soon she had the elf moaning in pleasure.

The man panted and she could tell that he tried hard to catch his breath.

"When you caress an elf's ears, like you are, you put him in a near state of ecstasy. It is very common in lovemaking to stroke an elf's ears, but you must be prepared to accept the consequences." His look was as soft as a caress.

"The consequences?" she questioned, still stroking the soft flesh. There was a tingling slowly building in the pit of her stomach.

"Yeah...hard and fast consequences," he murmured. He looked at her and the double meaning of his gaze seemed very obvious. His gaze dropped from her eyes to her shoulders to her breasts. "Among other things."

"Wow..." she murmured and continued to gently caress the appendage, allowing her hand to trail to his neck. Tessa watched his eyes become darker and stormier by the minute. Soon, she became tired of sticking strictly with the head region...she wanted more. "Do you mind if I touch you in other places?" she murmured, slowly licking her lips.

"Mind?" his voice came out almost a croak. "No...I don't mind at all...do you mind if I do the same?"

She grinned and scooted down to face him. "By all means...let's take this as far as you want...I need to make sure that I get what Angie paid for."

"Angie?" he asked. "Who's Angie?"

Excerpt:
“How far are we going?” he asked, trying to keep his gaze off of Isis’s round ass. He attempted to concentrate on the minerals twinkling in the smooth passage walls, but his attention kept straying to her butt.
“Just to the first small cavern.” Isis’s long, curly ponytail swung to and fro in front of him. “Next time we’ll plan for some serious spelunking.”
They descended farther into the bowels of the earth. The cool, damp air increased, the temperature dropped, and the aroma of moisture and wet minerals grew more prevalent. Stalactites and stalagmites glittered in pointed columns of bizarre beauty and composed a dimension of dreamscape proportions. Dillon thought of the Greek underworld and shivered.
I’ll shit a brick if we round a bend and run into Hades himself.
Isis paused and turned to look at Dillon. “Need to rest?”
“Yeah, if you don’t mind.” He sneezed again. “It’s getting sort of difficult to breathe.”
“Are you claustrophobic?”
“Never have been before, but, then, I’ve never been in a place like this before, either.”
Isis sat on a large stone jutting from the wall. She patted the spot next to her. The lights strung along the center of the passage ceiling glinted on her hair. Dillon liked the way it looked as if someone threaded her locks with glistening strands of red and gold.
“Sit and relax,” she suggested and smiled, the expression soft, seductive.
The moment Dillon caught the mischievous gleam in Isis’s eyes, thoughts of the encroaching walls and millions of pounds of crushing earth above him fled his brain. He knew he shouldn’t have allowed himself to fall for the woman so quickly, but he had. Isis was all he could think about. He dreamed about her at night, pined for her when she was away, and couldn’t stand to leave her side when they were together. Not only beautiful, Isis also possessed a keen intellect that intrigued him. Her allure was beyond intoxicating. It was addictive.
Thoughts of her lips caressing his cock filtered across his mind’s eye. He grew hard. Oh, how he wanted her, how he’d been patient the last two weeks. For the thousandth time, he imagined what it would be like to fondle her large breasts as his rod sank into her hot, silky center. He wanted her as his woman. The idea of introducing her to all his friends and family as his girlfriend or live-in tantalized him. What would it be like to wake up to her naked body entwined with his, her first smile of the day reserved only for him?

Sneak Peek into The Amourous Weekend by Kathryn Gerbert

The Amorous Weekend
by
Kathryn Gerbert (with Wild Horse Press)
Synopsis:
Tony and Lori Johnson are newlyweds, still adjusting to their married state.  They truly care for each other but both find trust difficult.  A dedicated teacher, Lori is in love with Tony but feels conflicted.  She’s too independent to be an obedient wife but too insecure to be an equal partner.   Tony’s in middle management and couldn’t despise his job more.  He loves his wife but has her on this pedestal preventing him from seeing the woman she is.
Excerpt:
They stopped at the library first, Tony followed Lori around.  Finally, when Tony went his own way, Lori went into the section and started to look at some of the books.  She flipped through a few and actually started to read a passage when Tony popped up again.  She was so tempted to put the book back on the shelf and pretend she was looking for something else.  She knew he would tease her.  If she picked out a book, wouldn’t he see it at home?  Yes, eventually.  There were absolutely no secrets.  She continued to read the book.
“Are there pictures?”
“Shh!”
Tony picked up a book Lori had perused.  She hoped he wasn’t looking at the one page that had caused Lori to put the book back.
“Hey, there’s two girls . . .”  His smile was devilish.
“Tony, hush.”
Tony picked up another book and sat next to Lori.  The book was titillating.  Once he got beyond the shock of this, in the library, sitting next to his wife, he looked for the information that he could put to use.  There was a lot of information.  They sat there side by side for quite a while, both turned on, elbows touching, both searching for whatever would help them.  Lori settled on one book, Tony had three.  He also had a thriller.  He indicated the suspense novel, “Should I put this one on top when we check out?  Try to cover the naughty ones?”
Lori was embarrassed, worse with Tony’s teasing, “Please don’t humiliate me in front of the librarian.”
As luck would have it, they got the gum chewing teenager, she paid scant attention to the titles and had them checked out in less than a minute.  Lori was so grateful, she promised herself and the book gods that she would not send the books down the book return chute in two weeks.  She would march in and put them on the counter where they belonged.
