In the last 4 pages of this forum topic, I think I remember something about you saying you were able to see that persons IP address while they were logging on to xbox live through some program.
well, i don't own an xbox 360 or any console at that.. the last console I've owned is the Nintendo NES  .. I don't know exactly how that program works, but if your able to get an IP address, you can go to http://www.urgentclick.com/address_trace.php
and find out what type of internet they are connecting through, and what company is providing them with internet service. ie: dsl, cable, satellite.
for example.
68.190.xxx.xxx traced to: 68-190-xxx-xxx.dhcp.gldl.ca.charter.com
thats my IP address, it's dhcp (Cable) in glendale, CA. @ Charter communications
at the time the xbox were to connect to XBox Live.. if you get the IP address and run this search, the police would be able to call the internet provider, provide them with the IP in question and a warrant (or whatever is needed), they would be able to give you the perpetrators address.
then just bust down that guys door and the xbox is yours again.
I used to work for comcast communications as a customer service rep, and whenever the police would call in with something regarding theft or IP trace, etc., the process was simple. Literally plug in the IP address into the database and after a simple search, the customers profile would pop up.
if this is done fast enough, you can most likely catch them in the act..
dont know if this has helped or not, or you've probably already tried this, but just thought i'd share my 2cents.

I'd rather it be at 3.00 am when I'm at home rather than say 11.00 am when I'll be at school and probably not at a comptuer. Pity we have all Pc's at school and they're all really really (bad) IBM's with the best ever (wrost) network in the world :D

iAd Gallery is a free download.
Would not surprise me if Apple Inc. thought about charging for it…
Who wants to go out of their way to see ads? What's this world coming to?
Absolutely.
Luckily technology has enabled me to now have a virtually ad free web/television/film viewing "experience".
Apple think differently, of course. :)

please read the thread....
When you come across a bit of information that seems to point to some sort of confirmation to a rumor do you read 9 pages of threads or do you just post it? I scolled through real quick to see if the image had been posted and didn't see it. Lay off.

Anyone else having trouble getting the new update on a 2011 MBP?
I've tried twice to install and on reboot, my MBP hangs on the spinning progress indicator. Doesn't make any difference whether I boot in normal mode or safe mode, it just hangs.
Only way to get back to a normal service is to completely reinstall the OS, but not upgrade to the new version.
Anyone else had this problem?

I've no real need for an iPad and as such, no need for a tablet. But having had a go with the 'competitor's' including the so called iPad killer, Xoom, I think Apple have already won. These iPad ads are just confirming that to the public.
That's exactly what I thought when the iPad1 came out. I got one last July, under the condition of returning it if I did't like it. After 10 days of using it, I decided to keep it. Now it's my main work tool when I'm on the road, and at home I use it more than my MacBook Pro.
Maybe you should give it a try too. You may discover what you have been missing all these months...

Would someone who bought what they assume to be the newer
version of this display with improve brightness and contrast
please post part of your serial number.
Mine: 2A6211XXXXX (Xs represents the rest of my number)
date of manufacture: May 2006
Determined from the decoder at:
http://www.chipmunk.nl/klantenservice/applemodel.html
I'm trying to detemine if the one I just bought is in this new batch.
And if it isn't I want to return it quickly.
I have 15 days to return it and exchange if I don't want this display to the store
where I bought it (not from an Apple store).
Mine is 2A6241XXXXX
manufacture date: June 2006

LAME! Apple you suck.
Well don't you sound like an intelligent one! Seriously, get out of this thread. You don't even know what you are saying.
This was a photography event, not Macworld or WWDC. In other words if it doesn't apply to your interest, then don't say anything at all.
I hate ignorance.

I sure as hell wouldnt move back to Windows for my everyday machine. I would move back to my Commodore 64 before that. :)
Ahh! Trip down memory lane. The Commodore 64c was my first computer. I believe I must have been in high school when my parents bought it. Gosh, I', teary eyed now...:o

I don't understand why the register even opened if the transaction was not complete. If the kid rang up the Ipad at $499 the plus the applicable state tax, you gave him the cash on hand, the register still should have required the balance from the credit card? The register in my opinion should not have even opened up? Much less print a receipt saying the full price was paid?
The only way I can this happening is if the kid keyed in the exact amount of the purchase price as cash.

Agreed. Sadly, I was working on an App nearly IDENTICAL to what Apple just came out with. I am about 80% done but am wondering if it is even worth completing: http://computerharmonyinc.com/ibillboard.html
I just saw your page. Wht a shame. It's pretty much the same concept. Btw. Would you need permission of the advertiser to feature their iAd in your gallery? What about storage? Can they be stored for archive and reference purposes?

I don't get the fascination with a marginal bigger screen, if I need a bigger screen I get my iPad.
Its all about losing the border, and getting a marginless screen

Kanye West is supposed to be the SMARTEST man in the music bus. Seems to me to be the most ignorant.
If you don't like Bush fine, but he HAD NO RIGHT to say what he said especially in the venue that he was in.
His ignorant comments cost donated money to the victims plan and simple.
Yet you fail to see the bigger picture. They shouldn't have had to raise the funds in the short time they had if idiot Bush was competent enough not to hire an incompetent director for FEMA or made the idiotic decision to add another layer of bureaucracy when placed under Homeland Security.

So am I right in thinking that the 23" now has a new 'panel' - so there shouldn't be pink cast etc issues with these new ones?
Also seeing as they're cutting the prices is it worth waiting for true next gen monitors or what...

2. Slim MacBook? Don't you mean tiny MacBook? Apple could quite easily make the iPhone Smartphone and the MacBook Nano one and the same.
I don't think so - we're talking about radically different form-factors for a superslim MacBook vs. a PDA smartphone. A MacBook still has to have a decent screen and keyboard, and an iPhone Pro still needs to be pocket size.
Here's what I might expect:
1) MacBook nano: 10.6" widescreen, metallic finish in nano colors, and thinner and more rounded than the current MacBooks (though the slimness will be limited by the optical drive, unless they get rid of an internal optical drive which I don't think Apple will do)
2) iPhone Pro: probably a slider phone with a Treo/Blackberry style qwerty keyboard tucked away. Maybe Apple will innovate here and come up with something better than a slider though. The options I've seen for integrating a qwerty keyboard are:
- regular solid bar-type phone like Treo or Blackberry
- slider phone like LG Chocolate (haven't seen this for a smart phone though)
- sideways slider like Sidekick or T-Mobile MDA
- sideways clamshell like Nokia Communicator
Personally I think both the "slim" iPhone and the "PDA" iPhone will be slider phones. The reason being that I think Apple will design the phones to look almost exactly like the iPod when viewed from the front. So I think the "slim" phone will basically be be a slider iPod nano, and the "PDA" phone will basically be a slider video iPod. Probably they will only be offered in one color to start with, in order to simplify manufacturing and inventory control. Probably silver or black for the iPod nano phone, and black for the iPod PDA phone. Though both phones will have a metal case instead of plastic...

Your laws ARE perverted (meaning they are not fair and serve only greed).
Just like our laws are perverted in many of our states, yours in your tiny country has a worse effect. After all, you still don't matter in the grand scheme of things...
And sooner or later, Apple will leave you, then you won't be able to buy anything from iTunes...
I think you should look up the word 'perverted' before you use it in this context.
The laws are there to protect the 'user', and there is nothing wrong with that, this case is the same as the case against M$, Apple have an unfair advantage over any other producer of media players, media from iTMS will only play on iTunes or on an iPod, which is what this whole case is about.

Dear macrumors newbie and all the others who simply don't get this,
I can only assume none of you have either a creative or entrepreneurial gene in your bodies. Even if all you hope to be is moderately successful at communicating , an appreciation of the work of ad agencies would be useful.
I designed my first ad when I was 19. It was a poster for a charity disco. We made money. Unconsciously I had distilled all the information I needed from all the ads I'd seen up to that point, and made something that worked. It was never as easy ever again.
If you ever want to be really successful and maybe even wealthy, then this app is vital. All the current iAds in one place - no searching needed. For goodness sake use your imaginations, please.
Yeah, I get it: Apple's iAd venture is doing really badly so they created this app to try to drum up some new business.
This app is vital if I want to be successful or wealthy? Huh?

Today I've had some pretty interesting exchanges with other smart phone owners. I personally have an iPhone 4, I've had it for ages and love it. Pretty much everyone else I know has an Android phone of some kind. Now, people are always so damn keen to try and compete with my iPhone! I mean seriously, these people just come out of nowhere! I don't even show it off either, people just see me use it and start coming out with stuff.
For instance, one guy comes out with - "Oh so you have an iPhone 4, my HTC Desire is way better". When we ran some comparisons he was obliterated but refused to accept it lol. All I got was, "well you paid 500 for an overpaid Apple product that you need a case to use". Personally I've never had any antenna problems so anyway, moving on.
Another guy comes out with "You don't have a removable battery so if your phone crashes then you're screwed". Anyone here had their iPhone crash? If yes were you unable to get it sorted at an Apple store? This explanation didn't bode well with said Apple hater. :p
Some one else came out with "iPhone 4 is a brick". At first I thought he was joking but he soon turned serious, saying that the phone literally is shaped like a brick and has sharp edges which hurt your hand.
Another guy claimed that iPhones are awful because they don't have flash. To be honest, I don't really care for flash. The only thing I need flash for is Youtube which has its own app, and most shopping sites have their own dedicated apps anyway. Flash is a resource hog that would kill the battery. This of course was nonsense to the nexus owner.
I could go on but the shots people took just kept getting cheaper and cheaper, most reverting to "well you paid 500 for a phone, you must be crazy". I don't understand this. It seems that most people feel some kind of envy to me because I own an iPhone 4. Its pretty sad, at the end of the day its just a phone. But people actually seem to hate Apple because they can't afford their products. Most of them admitted that had the iPhone been cheaper they'd buy one, hence they can't afford it so they are bitter.
Anyone else experienced this? I get similar problems when people see my Macbook Pro lol.
