My Personal Review for The Lion's Den by DN Simons

D. N. Simmons is one of my favorite authors and a wonderful person as well. She has a thrilling series that I think, if you enjoy vampires, shifters of all kinds, mystery and hot steamy sex, you will enjoy. Her latest is book five in the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles series and involves Lion shifters, murder, mystery and more. Hang on to your hats, guys.....Chicago is about to get wild.

Darian, Elise and Xander have weathered tough times as they dealt with supernatural serial killers, territory challenges and more. This time what they are facing will take them far beyond what they anticipate. For this time, Chicago is at the center of a battle they may not survive. The cat and mouse game has begun. Only time will tell who is the hunter and who is the prey.

The Lion's Den continues two years after Hostile Territory ended and is an edge of your seat ride. First I want to say you really should read this series from the beginning. All the books capitalize on one another and mention things that have happened in past books. That said, D. N. Simmons packs quite a punch in her latest story set in the supernatural world of Chicago. With returning beloved characters, a cat and mouse mystery that will leave you gasping and a storyline that is full of twists, it's a wonder I wasn't passed out cold from it all.

Ms. Simmons delivers in her eagerly awaited fifth book in the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles with bated breath. The minute I started reading The Lion's Den, I found myself transported to a world I missed. It was full of vampires, shifters and other supernatural beings that thrilled me in the last books. This was like I was coming home after a long vacation away. I enjoyed seeing what happened in the last two years with all my favorite characters and meeting some new ones had me hoping they may be in future books. The cat and mouse mystery in this book was quite an adventure. The sex scenes were primarily M/M so they may not appeal to some but it doesn't take away from the story at all.But I have to caution, the ending alone will leave you scrambling to the author's website seeing when book six comes out as it will leave you breathless.

The Lion's Den delivers a story so complex, wild and action packed, I suggest you install speed bumps to slow you down. I can attest that you may be up late reading this just to see what happens next. Ms. Simmons is a talented author who is going places. I anticipate seeing her work right along side Sherrilyn Kenyon and L. A. Banks one of these days. If you enjoy a high octane paranormal/urban fantasy adventure, then I highly recommend Ms. Simmons Knights of the Darkness Chronicles.

My Rating for The Lion's Den is: 5 Stars

Books in the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles Series are:

1) Desires Unleahed
2) The Guilty Innocent
3) Royal Flush
4) Hostile Territory

One of my favorite Series is back~Knights of the Darkness Chronicles by DN Simmons

When I go looking for a book or series, I always look for three items to make me want to pick it up.

1) Good storyline-it has to hook me by end of chapter one in order for me to read more.
2) Intriguing characters-I need more than one dimensional characters. I need those bad boys with hearts of gold, the women who can tame said bad boys and strong characters that won't turn around and become TSTL*.
3) I need the sex scenes to enhance said storyline, not take it over completely.
*To stupid to live

I am a story snob-100%. Sometiumes the cover doesn't do it for me but if the book blurb intrigues me, I will pick it up and nine times out of ten, I found a gem to keep.

I "meet" author D. N. Simmons when I first started reviewing, years ago and I loved that she was self-publishing her work and had a series that sounded so ambitious, it had me curious. I got her first book, Desires Unleashed and I was hooked by end of chapter one. It had vampires, shifters, mystery, romance and sex all rolled up with a blood red bow.

Since then I have eagerly anticipated the next adventure in this series and with each book, she just kept getting better and better, IMHO. Yes there were earlier editing mistakes and whatnot but she recently had the books re-edited and made them polished so brightly they practically blind you when reading. Now the earlier books have awesome new covers and a brand new book was released, The Lion's Den, this year as well.

Now let me take you into the world of the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles and author D. N. Simmon's vivid imagination.

Book 1: Desires Unleashed introduces you to the world of supernaturals, humans and the world they live in now. It's a new time as humans and supernaturals co-exist in uneasy harmony. A supernatural serial killer is on the loose in Chicago and it will take the efforts of two detectives from the S.U.I.T (Supernatural Unit Investigation Team), the supernatural community and a few select humans to find a way to beat this mad man before it's too late. Here is where we meet the main players-Master Vampire Darian, his second in command and lover, Xavier, Eloise and the Cheetah Pride and the human woman, Natasha, who will find herself thrust in the middle of it all.

Book 2: The Guilty Innocent continues the story as Darian, Xavier and Natasha find themselves trying to find out who set up Darian for a crime he didn't commit. It will take Xavier, Natasha and all their friends to find out who did this and why before all hell breaks loose.

Book 3: The Royal Flush has a threat after the vampires, pack and pride shifters on the edge. A team of big game hunters are hunting the ultimate game-supernaturals.  Can Darian, Xavier and all their friends find a way to stop them before it's too late?

Book 4: Hostile Territory now has Darian, Xavier and Natasha in a relationship (M/M/F Threesome) and as they try to accept the changes in their lives, an event happens that will either bring them closer together or destroy everything-and everyone-in their lives.

Book 5: The Lions Den continues as Darian, Eloise, Xavier and other supernaturals find out that a dangerous menance is about to tear their territory apart and they have no idea who is the hunter and who is the prey. It's their deadliest enemy to date as they have no care who they hurt and the pain they cause.

Are you ready to experience the Knights of the Darkness Chronicles? Hang on to your seats as the ride is about to get wild and bumpy. You don't want to miss any of these wonderful books and I can't wait to read The Lion's Den.

My Personal Review for Enchanted No More by Robin D. Owens

I loved Ms. Owner's Summoning Series through Harlequin/Luna Fantasy Line and she is back with a brand new fantasy/urban fantasy series. Enchanted No More kicks off the Mystic Circle series and I fell in love with it from the first page. Who wouldn't love fae, goblins, pixies, brownies and more enchanted creatures in their stories.

Jenni Weavers is a Mistweaver and a half blood. Fifteen years before, her family is destroyed while trying to help the Lightfolk and Jenni hasn’t forgiven them or herself for the price her family paid that day. Forced to walk away from her last remaining brother, alienated from her lover and magic community, Jenni lives in the human world trying to ignore her heritage and live a human life. All was well until the Lightfolk come back into her life and wants the help of the last surviving Mistweavers for an important mission. Can Jenni forgive herself, the Lighfolk and find a way to stop the darkness that will consume all if she fails?

I was absolutely thrilled to see one of my favorite authors start up a new fantasy series for Harlequin’s LUNA line. I was pulled into the story from the first page and couldn’t get enough of the Mistweavers, fae and other fantasy creatures that pop up throughout ENCHANTED NO MORE. This first book does a lot of setting up of the backstory for Jenni so it does seem repetitive at first but gradually the action picks up and the reader is then pulled into the story completely. Ms. Owens is a talented author who knows how to completely captivate her readers. Tight writing, intriguing characters and fast paced storyline help keep the reader glued to the pages until the very end.

If you are looking for a different sort of fantasy story to enjoy, then I highly reccommend Enchanted No More and settle in for hours of reading entertainment.

I give it 4 our of 5 stars.

Mini-Review of Master of None by Sonya Bateman

I am currently reading this great Urban Fantasy debut from author Sonya Bateman. It has an unlucky thief, a genie that isn't sweet and gives three wishes and action adventure that leaves you eager to see what happens next.

I heard a lot of good things on this book on the 'net and just had to check it out. Once I cracked it open, I was sucked into this wonderful world of genies, thieves and more. It was funny, edgy and definitely one I will read again.

The blurb had me hooked with this line: ".....Unfortunately, this genie—who goes by the very non-magical name of “Ian”—is more Hellboy than dream girl." I loved it. *grins* I love, love, love Hellboy movies and I just had to read this one after reading that line.

Now I highly recommend this new author to you if your looking for a fast paced story to tickle your urban fantasy bones.

I look forward to this author's next book in the series, Master & Apprentice, coming March 29th, 2011 or so Amazon says. I can not hardly wait!

Master of None Blurb:

ONE UNLUCKY THIEF. ONE UNLIKELY GENIE. ONE VERY ODD COUPLE.

Gavyn Donatti is the world’s unluckiest thief. Just ask all the partners he’s lost over the years. And when he misplaces an irreplaceable item he was hired to steal for his ruthless employer, Trevor—well, his latest bungle just might be his last. But then his luck finally turns: right when Trevor’s thugs have him cornered, a djinn, otherwise known as a genie, appears to save him.Unfortunately, this genie—who goes by the very non-magical name of “Ian”—is more Hellboy than dream girl. An overgrown and extremely surly man who seems to hate Donatti on the spot, he may call Donatti master, but he isn’t interested in granting three wishes. He informs Donatti that he is bound to help the thief fulfill his life’s purpose, and then he will be free. The problem is that neither Donatti nor Ian has any idea what exactly that purpose is.At first Donatti’s too concerned with his own survival to look a gift genie in the mouth, but when his ex-girlfriend Jazz and her young son get drawn into the crossfire, the stakes skyrocket. And when Ian reveals that he has an agenda of his own—with both Donatti and the murderous Trevor at the center of it—Donatti will have to become the man he never knew he could be, or the entire world could pay the price. . . .

*This review was done with no payment from author and was from my personal copy of the book I have bought.

Book Review: Moon Sworn by Keri Arthur

Moon Sowrn
A Riley Jenson Novel, Guardian book 9
Keri Arthur
Release date-May 25th, 2010
Paranormal/Urban Fantasy
Obtained by self-purchase
Reviewed for Love Romances & More Blog
Buy at Amazon HERE

There comes a time when a series ends and the final book can either make or break it. In the Riley Jenson Series, we have seen Riley grow up, mature and find her place in a world where vampires, werewolves and other paranormal creatures reside. In the eight books before this one, she has wrestled with her desire for the whole white picket fence and kids dream with the fact she works for the Directorate & has to kill. With her twin by her side along with her vampire soul mate, this half vampire/werewolf is about to find her life to get a tad bit messy especially as a past foe comes back to finish what he started years before. Can Riley find the path meant for her or will she find herself dead?

I love Ms. Arthur's books and I am hoping in the future she comes back to Riley and her friends. I would love to know how her life has been and where it lead to. Ms. Arthur is a talented author who delivers a story that hits many emotions-be it laughter, sadness, joy and despair. Each time you pick up a Riley Jenson book, you are blown away by the force of it all. If you haven't picked up this wonderful series, then grab it and all the rest. I do recommend reading the books in order as each book capitalizes on the past one and alludes to past events in them.
